When a subscriber is enabled with the Push To Locate licence, the IPRS™ (Internet Protocol Radio Service) client on their device will automatically attempt to derive its location according to either the default or a reduced configurable update interval, or according to a specific request by the server. Depending on the device in use, the technologies used to calculate the location may differ according to the methods available and the configuration in use; possibilities are:
- » Integrated GPS
- » Assisted GPS
- » External Bluetooth GPS Module
- » Network (Cell) based positioning
- » WiFi positioning
The derived location is then transmitted to the IPRS Platform which handles storage of the location in the database, and real-time notification of the received position to all interested parties.
