Taking Push To Talk Communication to a Whole New Level
|
| |
Mobile Tornado's Push To Talk service, Instant Talk, allows a mobile workforce to instantly communicate with the office as well as their team, improving workforce management and efficiency. By consolidating Instant Talk on mobile devices and enterprise can save the cost of purchasing and maintaining traditional PMR radios. This allows the staff to carry only one device.

Communicating with Push To Talk is instantaneous because there is no need to dial a number. To make a call, simply push a button and talk; this could be one-to-one or to a group. Instant Talk has the advantage of almost unlimited coverage as it uses the global GSM mobile phone network and, as it utilises the data channel, it is often still possible to make calls when the voice channel is congested.
The service can be delivered to a range of devices using our 'Over-The-Air' provisioning system, however our flagship device, the BB3G, has been specifically designed for this purpose. With a large loudspeaker, dedicated Push To Talk and Alert buttons, and a ruggedised casing it is ideal for use in all environments. Visit the BB3G Product Page for more information.

When a client signs in, it authenticates with our Internet Packet Radio System (IPRS™) platform at subscriber level and synchronises its address book, group list, etc. When a user wishes to make a Push To Talk call, the request comes in to the IPRS platform which confirms that the user is able to communicate with the recipient[s] and then multiplexes the call traffic out to all destinations. Operating in this manner provides a network and handset agnostic service and also ensures maximum reliability — as each handset is sent a separate stream of data it is much more likely that each handset will receive the full message, even allowing for fluctuations and delays on the networks.
Platform resilience can be achieved through the use of fully redundant server platforms, with our 'hosted' offerings being geographically diverse and hosted in colocated Data Centre facilities. Various security features such as basic GSM/WCDMA encryption, IPSec based operator connectivity, and use of a proprietary SIP-like protocol on the platform do offer much protection against eaves-dropping compared to existing PMR systems.
